CHOOSING YOUR EARRINGS
Face-shape advice can be a useful styling prompt, but measurements are more reliable. Front width tells you how much of the earlobe is covered; total drop shows where the earring ends; weight and fastening decide whether you will keep wearing it.

READ THREE NUMBERS TOGETHER
Measure a pair you already find comfortable, then compare it with the listing. Overall drop is normally measured from the top of the fitting to the lowest point of the earring.
A compact stud or focal point with moderate coverage.
Visible movement without extending far below the earlobe.
A longer statement line; check hair, collar and weight.
Confirm whether a listed weight is for one earring or the complete pair. Two designs with the same length can feel very different if one carries more stone or metal.
VISIBLE SCALE
Close-up photographs enlarge small details. For studs and round focal elements, compare the listed width with a ruler or a pair you own rather than judging from the product crop.
These circles show relative diameter only; settings, carving and irregular shapes may extend beyond the jade itself.
THREE DIFFERENT WAYS TO WEAR JADE
The fitting and overall length change how the jade sits near the face, moves with the wearer and works with hair, glasses and collars.
STUD
Check the visible front size, post length and backing. A wider stud can cover more of the earlobe than the photograph suggests.
SHORT DROP
Check the total drop from hook to lowest point and note whether the hook has a stopper or another securing method.
LONG OR ASYMMETRICAL
Compare the left and right dimensions separately, then check how the longest side interacts with hair and clothing.
THE FITTING TOUCHES THE SKIN
Stone color does not tell you what the fitting is made from. Read whether the post or hook is sterling silver, another base metal or a plated finish. “Gold-tone” and “gold-plated” do not mean solid gold, and metal color alone cannot confirm suitability for sensitive ears.
Before buying: check the visible front width, total drop, stated weight, fastening type, post or hook material, metal finish and the jade or gemstone disclosure.
